Personal care assistance services are designed to meet the needs of a person with functional disabilities; while providing authorized relief during an authorized plan of care to the person's family; allowing this person and their family to engage in activities of daily living. The personal care assistant will assist the client in these activities of daily living in order to sustain the client and their environment in state of well-being, cleanliness, and safety. As an employee of CARE you will provide personal assistance services as a Personal Care Attendant (PCA). The services you will provide will be for clients who have the following MCO'S Molina or Amerigroup and also that are under the Primary Home Care Program (PHC); or the Personal Care Services Program (PCS) for children 0 to 21 years of age.

Personal care may include some or all of the following tasks; depending on the client's needs and plan of care authorized by the DADS caseworker or the TMHP caseworker. This plan of care may change at any given moment and may have added or deleted tasks that will benefit the client's well-being while still accommodating their needs. Not all clients have the same needs and or plan of care. As a personal care attendant you may encounter different plans of care for every individual client based on his or her needs, the type of program they fall under, and/or the type of health condition or disability they have.

  • Bathing, Dressing, Exercising, Feeding
  • Grooming, Skin Care, Toileting, Ambulation Transfer
  • Cleaning, Laundry, Meal Preparation, Escort, Walking
  • Shopping, Assistance with Medication

Personal assistance services may be performed by; an unlicensed person who is at least 18 years of age and is competent to perform the tasks assigned by DADS, TMHP, and the agency supervisor. Personal care attendants may not be the legal nor foster parents of clients whom are minors under the age of 18. Personal care attendants may not be the spouse of the client except for FC. A DADS Case Worker or TMHP caseworker is the only person who can make such a decision under the criteria listed above. A personal care assistant MUST be someone who can be TRUSTED; someone who is DEPENDABLE, and someone who SINCERELY chooses to perform in such a position of this nature; that will EFFECTIVELY perform these tasks and CARE for the client while accommodating his or her needs. An attendant must not be designated by a DADS case manager on DADS' authorization for community care services form as "Do not hire."

All personal care assistants will work under the supervision of their agency supervisor.
